At Portillo’s I was in charge of building upon the brand identity while still adding in my own touch as a designer. I conceived campaigns for new limited time menu items, created an endless amount of field marketing promotional assets, and got them all into production as their brand designer and production coordinator!

Some of my most fun work while designing at Portillo’s was getting to really let my skills as an illustrator shine through. Understanding that Portillo’s is a heritage brand with a lot of history, I was able to play into that brand energy through fun, quirky, and playful vector illustrations!

I got the privilege of ideating and designing the look for our Dr Pepper collaboration for a limited-time shake and cake shake! I had full control over the campaign’s visual identity, making the logo lockup with Dr Pepper as well as all the promotional assets such as in-store animations that went along with it. After finalizing all the designs, I got them into production and managed the rollout across 100+ different restaurants.

A skill that I was able to consistently hone during my time working at Portillo’s was motion graphics! I was constantly making animations for assets inside the restaurants and online that I found myself growing to love doing!

For this project, I worked cross-functionally with our Learning & Development team to roll out a new internal initiative called “Make Their Day” to focus on hospitality across all the restaurants. I created a visual identity and system for this training program that accompanied all the lessons and assets that involved a logo and icons to represent the pillars.

Alongside the visual system, I designed a set of pins that rewarded and incentivized team members to have great guest interactions by “Making Their Day” and to earn pins every time they did. These were highly sought after in the restaurants!
